That New Otonari Trailer is Way Too Effective.

I want to watch that movie. 30th May!
(But what's the point of fussing over the premiere date. Not like I'm going to get to see it in cinemas... ¬¬ )

I never realised until a few hours ago just how many interpretations one could get out of "otonari."

おと な り
oto na ri; oto = sound
otona ri; otona = adult
o-tonari; tonari = neighbour

Otonari is a love story about two neighbours. He's a photographer, she's a florist. They don't meet, but they know each other - through sound. The sound of a door opening, footsteps across a room, windchimes, keys that jingle when one walks... (Gosh, those must be some really thin walls.)

And to think it's all summed up in the title!

It also probably explains why the movie's title is written with hiragana and spaced in that funny way.

I watched the most recent trailer maybe four times during the daytime yesterday but it didn't cross my mind until I watched it again at night. All of a sudden a comment from one of the characters that "the neighbour's kinda cute" and a later line of narration about this being a "grown-up love story" (I forgot the exact words 8D ) struck me and it was like a lightbulb totally lit up over my head. Such an "OHHHH. Now I get it!" moment. hahahah! Before this I was only ever aware of the "sound" part. ^^;

My favourite screencaps of the trailer~

"Satoshi" glancing towards the wall with a small smile when "Nanao" sneezes on the other side.

Aw, Nanao's upset and crying over something and Satoshi's concerned...
Don't just touch the wall and look so handsome doing so like you wish you could help her, stupid. She lives next door. Go see herrrrr.

Pretty flowers~ (And pretty photographer too. XD )

Oh! And the movie has such a charming little logo!

I liked it so much I tried to replicate it in vector form... only I didn't feel like tracing the text so I adapted it to what you see in my icon. It's my new desktop wallpaper too. :P (But the wallpaper has "otonari" in hiragana below the logo. It may appear in one of my next wallpaper posts? heheh)

Haha, my ears perked up when I saw 'Satoshi' and 'Nanao' XD (Why am I thinking of Nanao & Kyouraku-taichou from Bleach!!)

Man, whoever thought of the title is genius. So interesting!!

I bet you weren't even noticing the flowers when taking that last screencap ;)

XDD
I know! The "Nanao" name totally made me think of Bleach! And yeah... Satoshi... which Arashi fan wouldn't think of Riida at hearing that name? XD

Really a genius. Must've been the scriptwriter. Whoever it is should get an award for most creative and clever title.

I waaaaaas!!! The flowers are what made it pretty <3 (You'll notice you can't even see his face in that cap because the camera blocks it XD )

Hahaha, I would so laugh if they gave him the name 'Shunsui' XDD Errr, hmm, maybe not if they were a Pokemon fan? =))

Ah, well, I wouldn't mind if it was called 'of sparkles and shinies' :DDD

Pfffft. So, it was just coincidental that such a pretty face was in the same shot as well ;) (Hahaha, that's okay. A fangirl's imagination is very powerful, so such a tiny obstacle such as a camera means nothing =P)

"Shunsui" wouldn't suit XD

lollll
"Of Sparkles and Shinies" sounds like a movie that would star Tackey. XDD

Yes. :P
