Sukiyanen Osaka~
Apr. 4th, 2008 01:00 amI was going to ramble a bit about the ending of Arashi's appearance on TFP2 - the darts segment - but I decided I'll leave it until I've seen the whole thing. :P
In the meantime...
関じゃに∞ です!
Sukiyanen, Osaka performances are just about some of the most fun to watch. I simply like how their spoken routines in the middle of the song always vary somehow or other. A couple of them are very similar, with only a few of the members saying things differently each time, but there seems to be no end to the amusing things they come up with. The similar ones would be the routines where they introduce themselves (I believe that's the Heyx3 and first Music Station performances of the song).
But two that I really remember are the ones for the second Music Station performance and for Honjani. (Downloaded at

( I realised that if I would probably not have developed much interest in Kanjani8 a year ago simply because I wouldn't have understood a-ny-thing they were saying without subtitles at the time. hahah! Good timing that they came to my attention at a time when I've juuuust enough comprehension of Japanese to understand a few of the jokes. XD )
I was telling snoew about the Muchaburi episode with Crystal Kay, where she had to pick which Kanjani8 members she would want as a husband, a lover, hatoko ("second cousin," i.e. someone she only sees about once a year) and friends. She picked Ohkura, Yasu, Baru and Maru as "friends" - Baru was not pleased. XD Ryo was chosen as "lover," leaving Hina and Yoko. One would be "husband" and the other "second cousin." She went with Hina for "husband," leaving poor Yoko as hatoko. Everyone promptly laughed at him. Ohkura surprised me by starting it first and pointing at him, laughing, "Second Cousin-san!"
Yoko wanted to know why she had picked Hina for "husband" instead of him. She said it was because Hina seemed fun. But, she added, everyone seems fun too so it was really hard to choose.
"Then why is it all right to see me only once a year?" wailed Yoko.
Hina surmised that there's very little difference between the two of them (oh really?) but it was probably because Yoko talks too much. XDD
Snoew asked me if I had that question thrown at me, how would my answer go? Which of K8 would be my husband/lover/friends/second cousin?
I thought about it a moment and told her. She seemed surprised, for some strange reason. haha
What do you think I answered? =P (snow-chan, no telling them the answer!)
And who would you pick? I'm curious... hehe

From what I gathered...... (I must stress that because I'm basing it all on my meagre understanding of Japanese, so a margin of error should be given ^^; ) in the MS performance, their routine basically consisted of Hina trying to get them to introduce aspects of Kansai and everyone else fouling it up by "mishearing" him and spouting lines about or related to things that sounded like "Kansai."
For instance, banzai...

... and manzai.

(Ohkura-kun, that expression on your face..! ahahahahaha)
At the next interval, sansai - I haven't yet figured out exactly what this is - there seem to be several possible meanings, and I couldn't understand everything Yassan said before that. XP
My favourite was Baru's - which came after sansai. He said (in English!), "How old are you?" and Hina responded, "Nijyuusansai* - that's not it!!" LOL

* nijyuusansai = 23 years
The third interval consisted of Baru jumping up and down like a monkey (猿ばる! saru Baru XDDD )...

(I added an arrow to indicate Baru, but it really really doesn't do his monkey antics justice. You have to watch the video... ahahah)
...and a spat between Yoko and Ohkura.

Yoko demanded to know where the pudding in his pocket went and appeared to be accusing Ohkura of taking it. Ohkura denied it vehemently.
And then Ryo came over from the other end to separate the duo, telling them to stop it.

After which Hina tsukkomi-ed him. "That's chuusai!" (chuusai = mediation, arbitration)
LOL
Then as Ryo walks back to his own spot, he slips a hand inside his coat...

Well, guess we know who took Yoko's pudding. XD (Just look at Yassan grinning away there...)
Yoko does find out though - during their ending pose.

Just priceless!
For the Honjani performance, they did a little shiritori game (the game where you have to say a word starting with the last syllable of the previous word) on Osaka-related things. I thought it was hilarious...
Yoko: Takoyaki!
Tacchon: Kiyoubashi (no idea what this is, but that's what it sounded like to me)
Yasu: Shota! (ROFL. Oh Yasu. You just had to state your own name...)
Hina: Tanaka?
Baru: Kankei nai yan! [That has no connection!!]
Maru: OUT!!
Baru: What?!
(In shiritori, you lose if you run out of ideas, or say a word that ends with 'n' because "'n' isn't a syllable and thus can't be used at the beginning of a word" - to quote the nice person who translated the last chapter of Eyeshield21. ahaha )
Also interesting to note, the Honjani performance is the only one I can remember seeing so far where Maru doesn't get cut off mid-sentence during his part in the interval. :P
