I was floundering around, feeling like I wanted to post but not knowing what to post. Part of me wanted to start posting about the crazy Nagase Hunt episode of Tetsuwan DASH but at the same time... I dunno. Maybe I felt it would be a waste? (Although in a way, letting 300+ screencaps sit around in my computer isn't much use either. -__-" )
So anyway, I decided what to post about. And it's probably something that some of you would say is rather typical of me:
Three scans (one each from V6, Arashi and Kanjani8) and why I like them.
(I feel like I've done this sort of post before, but for some reason I can't seem to locate it in my archives... @_@ Wonder if I imagined it or not... Anyway, forgive me if I have and I'm repeating myself!)
1. Okada, Duet 2007.10 (original scan fromkicchan86 at Vox dragorsi [dunno how I managed to mix up labels there -__-" ] ).

Why:
Because it's Okada. HAHAH. No, not really. It's not just because it's Okada, okay? :P
I talked to skyura about this scan before, I think. We were noting how the textures in the background really make this image. Without the rough wall and aged wood panels, this photo wouldn't be half as interesting. Kudos to the art director or photographer for choosing this place.
Also, something about the colours here just works. Not quite perfect, maybe - I think it might have been a liiiiittle better if Okada's outfit had been less like the wall and sofa. But then the similarity to the background does work, nonetheless.
All in all, gorgeous picture in my opinion! Composition, colours, texture, subject matter... :Db
2. Kanjani8, Duet 2007.04 (original scan from kicchan86 at Vox).

This pic of Tacchon and Hina is more of a representation of the whole photoshoot of Eito - I liked this picture a little bit more than the rest, but I really really liked all the photos in this shoot. It was a really cool and yet fun set of pics. And Eito looked hot, I tell you! (Even if Tacchon's hair was a tad too long to my mind, and Yoko's hair was too short [but thankfully hidden by the fedora].)
The background was plain, but that didn't really matter since the concept itself was so fun and striking. Dressing up crazy Kanjani8 in smart, snazzy suits is always a good idea; and then taking it further by giving them props to make it look like they're some businessmen or high-powered execs turned out to be an even better idea. (Okay, Yoko looked a bit like a mafia boss, but that's beside the point. He looked like a cool mafia boss anyway. XD )
And the thing I really like about it is how even though they have outfits and props that cry, "Businessmen!" there's always something about each photo that is still "Eito" in essence - some little quirkiness in the pose/props/styling.
Yet another good job in art direction.
3. Arashi, Songs 2005.08 (original scans from furokugal)

As with the Tacchon & Hina pic above, this scan of Riida is meant to represent all five. But unlike the Tacchon & Hina pic, I definitely like this one better than the other four pics in the photoshoot - the position of the fish, Ohno's expression and gesture, the lighting... Superb.
Concept-wise, I really like this. Putting fish in a tank and then having Arashi lie down underneath the tank was certainly unusual and made for interesting results (since you can't exactly tell the goldfish where to swim...). Granted, there were obvious small issues with distortions from water ripples and such, but they managed so that the faces were relatively undistorted. But it's still set apart from their usual photoshoots as these can't exactly be "staged" so perfectly, and you get quite natural expressions. (I didn't like Jun's pic, but never mind.)
Also, the colours! Those blues~ And those oranges and yellows~ Great match; bright yet not overwhelming (partly because the fish look darker since the light source was below them). Ah, but colour-wise Jun's and Nino's shots for this weren't so good since they were given blue outfits to wear. Nino, especially, blended into the background. Jun was slightly more fortunate in that his shirt was a deeper blue so he didn't look like a part-chameleon.
So that's all for now - three of my favourite scans and why I liked them. I should probably write a better conclusion, but I'm sleepy and it's 2AM, so I hope you pardon the lack of sensible conclusion. Good night. :)
