Back from Singapore~
Sep. 7th, 2009 03:42 amMy Singapore weekend largely consisted of bookstores and meeting friends. hahaha On Friday, I met up with snoew, and on Saturday with Luke and his girlfriend. On both days I visited Kinokuniya (two different ones, of course), and on Saturday itself, I spent about 5 hours in the Takashimaya branch of Kino. Yes, five. I got to Taka at about 1pm and was due to meet Luke at 6.30pm. I went straight into Kino and never came out until 6.15pm. 8D And I totally forgot that there was even a second floor to that particular branch of Kino. >_>
Anyway...
snoew is very good for the Singaporean (and Japanese) economy. Where I was instrumental in luring her into Arashi fandom, she's instrumental in getting me to spend on V6/K8 fandom.
.
She gets hapless me to the Bookmart store in Clark Quay where I end up buying two old V6 albums:
"Happy" (long title seems to be "Happy" Coming Century, 20th Century Forever")...
... and "Nature Rhythm."

I seem to faintly recall hearing about Happy somewhere or other, but Nature Rhythm was totally new to me. And since both came with little extra stuff... XD (Nature Rhythm came with some kinda gaudy-looking, purikura-esque stickers and a hardcover photobooklet that had line pages in between sections that were evidently meant for scribbling on - but as if I'm going to do that! Happy came with only a photobooklet, but had an interesting all-black CD case.)
Started scanning a few pages of Happy's booklet, but lost patience. 8D Must try to finish scanning before I leave this Saturday. Anyone know if either of these albums have been shared before on LJ? The songs too. As far as I can recall, they haven't been shared before, but I may have missed the links somewhere. If they haven't then I'll probably upload the music as well as the scans when it's all done. ^^
But overall, I spent very little in Singapore. Compared to my sisters, that is. My total purchases probably came out to about... Just around SGD100, maybe? Those two albums, several markers, a coloured ink pad and two manga from Kino... That's about it. lol OOoohhhh speaking of that: snoewwwww, I'm totally going to have you buy more Ouran manga for me from Singapore when I decide on other interesting volumes. XD I discovered that there's a Singapore company licensed to translate Ouran and Otomen and some other manga to English. The price is like, half of Shojo Beat's. So I bought volumes 12 and 13. :P
(Of course, Shoujo Beat comes from the US, and the cover design and all is rather prettier. But still! I'd rather buy the cheaper Singaporean one since the translation is fairly decent. Although I do wish they'd simply ignored the whole senpai suffix and went with just the names, because calling characters "Senior Tamaki" and "Senior Hani" and so on is plain awkward.)
.
The last thing I bought in Singapore was a charm bracelet. My sisters got one each too. This is mine:

1. A palette with (jewelled) paint blobs and two brushes
2. A little carriage reminiscent of Cinderella's carriage - a salute to my Disney-mania? My mother picked this one for me. lol
3. Stars. Self-explanatory. XD
(And the little sparklies on the bigger star are actually a yellowish tinge. 8D )
4. Dolphin! Because I like dolphins ♥
5. A camera :)
I like this bracelet. It's so me. hahaha
.
Anyway...

Kino is gooood, that's why. :P Kino at Taka is so big 8D (But strangely only got one Pixar artbook. lol)
Noooo don't! Dangerous to go shopping with you. Wallet loses weight instead of me XD
And yea, Kino (at Takashimaya), not Bookmart. heheh But I think it'll be a while before I want any new volumes. It's starting to get a bit "serious" and dramatic from volume 15 onwards. hahaha I was so happy to see it cheap though! :P SGD8-something only~

Date: 2009-09-07 04:22 am (UTC)Yea, there's a second floor. After finding out that I was in Kino for 5 hours, my friend asked me if I went up to the second floor and I was like, "...Second floor? AAAH I FORGOT!"
Bookmart is.. er.. in Central, Clark Quay. Somewhere on the second floor. It's good if you want to read Japanese books. As in untranslated Japanese books. Manga, novels, etc. All in Jap. 8D

Date: 2009-09-08 02:48 pm (UTC)Hmmm really i've been to KINO so many times...we talking abt the same branch right. The one at ngee ann city....there a 2nd floor. The kino branch at ngee ann city is at 3rd level...u mean its at 4th level. And is it accesible from inside Kino itself???
Oh the Central@clarke quay. Ok i shall check it out if ever i went there. So other than 2nd hand books, what else they have...CDs too?
I'm getting interested.

Date: 2009-09-08 03:29 pm (UTC)Erm, not secondhand books - new books. ^^
CDs, yea, but seems to be not the latest releases? And the only JE stuff I saw there were a few V6 albums/singles - I'm assuming maybe they stock old avex stuff...

Date: 2009-09-07 05:49 am (UTC)Haha, Senior Tamaki and Senior Hani? XDD Too strange lol.
I think my favourite charm from your bracelet is the palette one :D The others are cute as well :) Camera reminds me of Okada's Otonari photoshoots XP

Date: 2009-09-08 04:46 am (UTC)Exactly. I'm almost tempted to strikeout or erase the "Senior" in all the speech bubbles. hahaha
The camera should remind you of Okada, Otonari or no. XD
