Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo
Jun. 7th, 2007 04:46 pmI really liked this movie. :)
EDIT: Shinyuu tells me that Toki is supposedly one of the best anime movies ever. I wouldn't be surprised if it is. hahahaha

The story was simple, but it wasn't boring. And I loved how the character relationships were portrayed - especially between Makoto, Kousuke and Chiaki. I also liked how it shows what a normal person - of no real standing in society, with no grandiose ambitions - might do with a time-travel ability. Simple stuff, like making a bad day a good one, or escaping inconvenient/uncomfortable circumstances. And yet even the simple stuff has consequences.
Animation - I'd say it's good and fluid for anime standards. (And I was quite awed by the Van Gogh-esque, Impressionistic sequences when Makoto first time-leaps.
Character design - doesn't compare with the Western designs, but it's not bad. I like that it isn't the type of anime where if you just switch the hair styles/colours and eye colours around, you get different characters.
Backgrounds - beautifully done!
Seiyuus - cast quite well, I thought. The voices suited. :)
And the last line from Chiaki!
I'll be waiting in the future.
