The 83rd Oscars
Feb. 28th, 2011 02:33 pmOut of 24 awards, I guessed 8 correctly. Not bad, considering how I've not seen most of the films. A lot of it was just stabbing in the dark. hahah
Perhaps it is rather telling that five of my correct guesses were technical awards (cinematography, costume design, film editing, sound editing and visual effects), and one was the best animated feature. The remaining two correct guesses were best actor and best actress, which I think were practically foregone conclusions.
I like that King's Speech won. I liked Inception quite a bit too but I don't feel as sore as some people I know about Inception not winning more than technical awards. Inception dragged at places in the story, whereas King's Speech didn't drag (for me). And it's a great deal more difficult to hold an audience's attention without the help of action-packed sequences or a good-looking cast. This isn't to say that the cast of King's Speech is ugly, but if you compared them to Inception, the latter has the overall better-looking cast.
I thought Black Swan would win Best Picture, seeing as how these people tend to vote for those dark tragedy-types but I was pleasantly surprised for once. 8D
Pity Day & Night didn't win Best Animated Short though...
