I think I'm starting to really figure out why I like Sakurai Sho so much (enough that he's a very close second place to MatsuJun - and at times overtakes Jun, when Jun is just being too flamboyant :P )...
The main reason would be the sheer amount of respect I accord him. He has a degree - the other Arashi members and a large portion of JE guys don't. I just have to respect the fact that he managed a degree in something like econs while still an active member of Arashi. *in awe* Clearly, this guy doesn't take education lightly. (Or at least, kudos to his parents for making sure he didn't.)
He seems to be the most intellectual of Arashi. (... Actually, that's kinda obvious..) And I rather favour that type. It's evident in some of my choices of favourite anime guys, even. Look at Ohtori Kyouya (Ouran) and Fujiwara Takamichi (Harukanaru)... Ishida (Bleach) too.
Another reason might be that he reminds me of myself in some ways. :P
I read somewhere that one of his favourite TV channels is Discovery Channel. I was like, "FRIEND!"
Ever since I was a kid I was stuck to the National Geographic shows on TV, and when satellite TV made its way to Malaysia, I became a Discovery Channel and National Geographic channel addict. I could sit for hours and just watch those two channels... Not that I didn't watch other channels, but the time I spent watching those two was more than the other channels. hahah! Nowadays Discovery's a bit more dull though - a lot of technical/engineering/physics-type programmes. I'm more of a nature/history type of person.
(When I mentioned that to Skyura the other day, she said that yea, I'm starting to sound more and more like Sho. lol.)
Then I watched the Tokyo Friend Park 2 episode where Sho and Nino came on as guests (because of Yamada Tarou). It struck me towards the end that Sho was really taking some of those silly games quite seriously...
Especially in the last game - I don't know what you call it... It's like a cross between ice hockey and table tennis or something. You have to knock something like a hockey puck across the table and into the 'goal.'

Not sure if anyone else has ever played it, but I have - and I remember it very very well. Used to be quite common in the game arcades here, but recently haven't seen any in the arcades in my state. I think the last time I played it was ten years ago or more. But I was good at it! hahah (Made up for the fact that I'm not really good at any other arcade game.)
Anyway...
Sho's expressions during the game really reminded me of myself...

Aaah, yabai!

Shimatta...

Eee-eeehh?? Did that just happen?

I can't help but think that Nino doesn't look as serious as Sho.
But they won, 7-6. *phew*

Winner's smile! :D
(I wanna know why they gave Nino the Mickey Mouse plush and Sho the Minnie Mouse...)
See the first three expressions? They're really familiar to me because I used to make those faces XD
While watching, I kept thinking that they way Sho takes these silly little games seriously is just like what I used to do - just that he's more sporting than I was. *laughs* I'm better now, but last time... I did get sincerely upset/annoyed when I - or a teammate - made a stupid mistake that cost us a win. I really hated losing. Especially at "silly games." Can't imagine why I took them as seriously as I did. Overdose of the competitive spirit, I guess. ahaha
In a way I think I still retain some of that competitiveness... Though I don't let it get to me so much nowadays. (Less opportunity for such competitiveness now that I'm older anyway, unlike schooldays when I had badminton tournaments and school sports and church stuff to deal with.)
Just for the heck of it, I'll continue with a few more screen caps from this TFP 2 episode. The very last bonus challenge kinda thing: darts.
They had to throw darts at a spinning wheel target in order to win items of their choosing and/or a Pajero. Three tries each. (Sho's chosen items were a HD digital video camera and something that looked like a GPS system for his mother and sister. Nino's chosen items were a washing machine and vacuum cleaner. I don't know why.)
Sho managed to win himself the video camera on his second try. (And his reaction was so cute. "Yatta! Yatta! Yatta!" ) On his third try...

Still bouncing around merrily before throwing the dart...
And then in less than a second his expression went from that, to this:

Complete and utter concentration.
Whoa.
AND HE WON THE PAJERO.

(Oooh. I love his big, happy+surprised grin.)
Behold.

Suge naaa~~
It's said that Sho used to be really good at darts when he was younger, so perhaps that win wasn't too surprising...?
I found it hilarious that Nino kept hitting Sho's targets on the wheel. Right after Sho won himself the video camera, Nino hit the video camera part on the wheel too. And then on his third try, Nino won the GPS navigation thing for Sho. LOL. Even Sho couldn't help laughing. "Anata... Zenbu ore no jan~!"
:P
I wonder... Why do I bother talking about Arashi so much on my LJ when most of my f-list doesn't have an interest in them anyway?
Oh.. Right... Because this is my 'fangirling' space. So I can. XD
(Gomen ne, minna ^^ )

Date: 2007-09-19 08:49 am (UTC)Pajero in Spanish means masturbator T_T
REALLY BAD NAME T_T Does that mean Nino is...
...
...
*headdesk*
Though he looked kawaii...

Date: 2007-09-19 09:09 am (UTC)LOL.
That would be... a bad choice of name from Mitsubishi then. I don't suppose they consult language experts before naming their cars. XD It's been around a long time though (thankfully I never knew until now - I might have been mentally scarred even more.. hahah).
I know what "nino" means in Spanish (isn't anywhere near as bad as "pajero" right? hahahah), though in this case Nino is the nickname for Ninomiya Kazunari. XDD

Date: 2007-09-19 10:00 am (UTC)That's the WORST name EVER. Though the pronounciation is "pahero"... it is written the same T_T Anyway, it SUCKS, I wonder if they SHOULD consult one XD. Ummh... though I am not sure if it has the same meaning in every Spanish-speaking country :x In Argentina it has that meaning o.o
nino? I don't think it means anything... niño, on the other hand means "boy" =3 But as you pronounce it "ninIo" it really isn't so similar =3

Date: 2007-09-19 10:08 am (UTC)I had a feeling that's how it's pronounced in Spanish. Probably when you say Pajero normally ("pa-jay-row" is how we usually say it) it won't have the same effect as "pahero" :P
A bit late to consult an expert I think.. Pajeros have been around years and years. XD
(Does Mitsubishi market Pajeros in Spain, I wonder.... lol)

But omg... I wonder if they DO sell them in a Spanish speaking country o.o I swear I never saw one XD I don't think I WILL see one here, EVER XD;;;
Maybe they should consult an expert in the future xD;;;;

I'm not sure how wide Mitsubishi's market is, but since they've stuck to the name for so long, perhaps they haven't tried pushing it to a Spanish-speaking consumer range yet. Hahahah

Date: 2007-12-14 02:28 am (UTC)I completely loved your impressions on Sho, he's amazing isn't he? although I think you like Jun more lol, but hey I just loved all this Sho analysis, I guess I have a little part of Sho in me as well and hence of you =D I second everything you said and thank you for your fangirl moments! glad someone else thinks that way and is willing to post it despite her LJ non arashi fans XD. Which makes me wonder...is it possible if I added you? let me know pls ^^
PS. I have relatively so little time of "loving " Sho lol and hence Arashi, so I wonder is it Sho his last name or his first name? I've seen so many websites putting Sho first and others the sakurai first *is confused* thanks in advance for clearing this up for me!

Date: 2007-12-14 05:15 am (UTC)Thank you! Glad you enjoyed reading it (and glad you agree!).. :D Sho's amazing, but yes, I do like Jun more. Haven't denied that XD
And sure, add me if you like :) I don't mind. Always nice to have new friends! :D
"Sho" is his first name. I usually state his name as Sakurai Sho, following the Japanese (and general Oriental) way of having surnames first.

Date: 2007-12-14 04:27 pm (UTC)And glad his first name is Sho it's just shorter XD, although I love the sound of "sakurai sho" more instead of "sho sakurai" hehe
btw, gorgeous Sho icon!!

Date: 2007-12-15 01:13 pm (UTC)Thanks - Sho does look great in that pic, I think. heheh! (Oh how I miss that hair of his... I'm one of the few who doesn't like his current hairstyle. Just waiting for it to get a little longer and more like the Mimura look again :P )
