Giselle & Prince Edward from Enchanted. (Larger view is up here at my deviantArt =] )
I haven't done much drawing in some time - I kinda miss it. Haven't been doing much colouring either, so this was fun to do. Felt satisfying (although I'm not too pleased with how Edward turned out in the pic...).

I really wish Giselle had ended up with Edward instead of Robert. :( That might sound weird, but... Well... That's the way I would rather have it. I felt sorry for Edward and Nancy when they seemed to realise what was going on between Robert and Giselle. Yeah, Edward and Nancy found their own "happily ever after" in each other, but still... I just hated the way the story lapsed into cliché.

Sure, Edward was quite self-centered, but he wasn't exactly arrogant. He struck me as being more Tamaki (Ouran) than Atobe (Prince of Tennis) - good at heart, but just with a rather deluded sense of self. And hey, the guy jumped down a magic well to a totally different world to save the girl. Whereas I find Robert rather a hypocrite though he was good to Giselle. After all that talk about taking time to get to know each other better, true love doesn't happen overnight and whatnot... Look what he does. Ditches his girlfriend of five years for a girl he's know for about three days. *rolls eyes*

On the flipside, I really liked the first two-thirds of the movie. I loved the opening with the classic storybook (literally) with old-fashioned lettering on the cover. It was so very "Disney" and so reminiscent of the old Disney classics. The music! Oh, I've missed that sort of Disney music... I'm glad they got Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz to do it. :)
It was hilarious when Giselle started to clean Robert's apartment with the help of rats and pigeons - though the cockroaches were more gross than funny. I did wonder, though... How is it she knew what a vacuum cleaner is but was so fascinated with the shower? Tiny discrepancy there... ^^

The film's quite a treat for Disney fans like me. Besides the obvious stuff - animal friends helping out, cute animal sidekick, hag with a poisoned apple, shoe getting left behind - you get all these little Disney references here and there. E.g. the Bella Notte restaurant ("Bella Notte" is the love song from Lady & the Tramp), and Nancy Tremaine (Cinderella's stepmother was called Lady Tremaine). Also, I just realised that Robert's surname is Philip. In Sleeping Beauty, the prince's name was Philip. And in the same story, the wicked witch Maleficent turned into a dragon, which Prince Philip fought before he could get to Princess Aurora. Of course, in Enchanted that was kinda reversed... I like all these tiny references :D

Overall, I thought the show was excellent until Giselle became "aware" and stopped singing. I thought that was so sad. From being a unique "princess," she suddenly became utterly normal. And it sort of went downhill from there for me. Sigh.

But that's my personal opinion on the show - what do you think? Would love to hear other opinions :)
