さあ！ Utaban summary + partial/rough translation!
行きます...

I warn you, this is gonna be kinda long. And with lots of screencaps. ^^

(I actually took over 80 screencaps... Then I whittled it down to over 50. And then further cut it to 49 in all. *phew* I think I'm crazy sometimes. ahahahah)

To start with, let's have screencaps of (my) Niiban and Ichiban :P

Ok. Back to business. I apologise in advance for any mistakes ^^

The first thing Nakai asks Arashi - since it's a Valentine's day broadcast - is who's the most popular in the group. Nino says it's Jun. MatsuJun has this really puzzled frown on his face, like he can't understand why Nino said that. He says that he thinks Nino and Sho are really popular too. Sho says that no, MatsuJun is the most popular.
Nakai then asks, "And Aiba?"
Aiba: I'm popular.
XD

The conversation after that wasn't that interesting - to me. ^^ Briefly:
- Nino talked about some RPG game.
- MatsuJun mentioned Arashi's little year-end party.
- Ohno talked about going fishing. He goes out to sea in a boat, apparently. MatsuJun said something about seeing a pic of Ohno with a big fish in his handphone. Ohno said it was a sea bass he caught.

There was a pause after that. And then Ohno said, "What, am I weird?"

And this... Is just because these two look good here. :P

When we see this, we all know something's coming...

Sad to say, I didn't get the joke (too lazy to cross-check so many kanji, and I didn't understand what they said directly) so I can't say exactly what made Nakai mad. But anyway..!

Ohno vs Nakai 1

It's just so funny how Ohno can look so calm in the frenzy. XD
(The text on the screen reads: It's begun, it's begun!! ahahaha)

There was a little chat about Ohno's artbook as well. Those clay heads he makes still give me the creeps. >.<

Now we come to the next part.
They bring in six little girls - all of whom have acted in at least one drama or CM or something, I think. Two of them were Nino's sisters in Yamada Tarou Monogatari. (front row, left and centre - Muranaka and Inagaki) For some reason, the other girl in front on the right reminds me of someone... I just can't think who.

It's kinda cute how whenever Nakai addresses the girls, he seems to automatically go into this baby voice... Like how people talk to really young kids. XDD

Inagaki Rinka, the 6-year-old in the middle, is so cute - once removed from the Yamada Tarou setup. (I'm sorry - I just couldn't stand Tarou's siblings in the show.) Apparently she could do a Kojima Yoshio imitation (think of Aiba's sonna no kankei ne! impression in the first Heyx3 Telephone Box. ahahaha). SO cute.
Arashi totally had kawaii~ written all over their faces. Especially obvious in MatsuJun, Nino and Sho - which I guess was the reason why the camera was focussed on those three a lot.

There was a sort of Q&A session thing where the girls were either asked questions or asked questions of Arashi. The first one was Miyama (the girl in red). Nakai asked her who her favourite Arashi member is. She replied, "Aiba-san."

Aiba was surprised. :P Everyone went, "Ooooo!" MatsuJun gave him a pat on the back and said something like, "Ah, it's here, it's here!" (There really should be a better translation for that, but I can't think of it. It's a bit hard to get the context down. >.< Gomen!)
When asked why Aiba, Miyama said that it's because he's funny. XD
Aiba said he's so used to the answer being MatsuJun that he wasn't expecting that at all.
Jun remarked that Aiba's "tension" (energy) had suddenly gone up - he was becoming more and more animated as he talked. ahahahah

Kojima, the girl in the back with the braids, asked Arashi where they would take a girl on their first date. Sho, Nino and MatsuJun looked like they were thinking so hard. (C'mon, guys, do you really have to think so hard? Surely you've had first dates before... ¬¬ )

Sho said probably a movie
Nakai: What would you see?
Sho: For me, uhm...
Nakai: Love story? Doki-doki type?
Sho: Suspense.

... Why a suspense movie, Sho?

Nino's reply was oh-so-typical of him. Game centre. o_O

MatsuJun said he would go to a botanical garden. He didn't want to go to an amusement park - because there are too many people at such places (that's what I think he said).
Aiba went the opposite way and said he would go to an amusement park. I guess Aiba likes more excitement on a first date XD

And Ohno... said he'd go on a charter boat. Fishing! LOL. On a first date?? Riida definitely has fishing on the brain...

Next up was Muranaka Haruna (a.k.a. Yamada Taro's sister, Yoshiko).
She asked them how to confess to the guy she liked.
Sho suggested writing a letter. Nino... Well I don't know what Nino suggested because I didn't understand it ^^; But at that time, Nakai asked her, "Is it a boy from your school?"
Muranaka: Yes.
Nakai: Same class?
Muranaka: Yes.
Nakai: What's his name?
Muranaka: Kondou Kouki-kun.
Jun: She said it!
ahahahahahaha

MatsuJun's recommendation was to give him a letter with chocolates (since it's Valentine's Day I guess). It was kinda funny how Nakai seemed so much more interested in the letter suggestion when it came from Jun than when it came from Sho. lol... Almost like it's more reliable coming from him.
Anyway... MatsuJun suggested that she write in the letter something along the lines of: I like you. Please watch Utaban tonight.
(And while he was saying that, Wish started playing in the background. ROFL. )

Muranaka was like, "Oohhh!" and Nakai also seemed very taken by the idea. XD (Maa, who can beat MatsuJun for these types of suggestions? heheh)
Jun said, "He'll be all 'eh, ME?' Kondou-kun will..." In other words, the boy would probably be very surprised. :P
To which Sho said, "I understand MatsuJun's popularity now."

XDDD

And after that, they had the camera focus on Muranaka only and she gave her confession on camera. (Oh the cuteness!)

It went like this:
"Kondou-kun..." *embarrassed giggle* "Kondou-kun, I like you!"
*cue Love So Sweet*

And there was a burst of applause and cheers from Arashi and the hosts. heheh (Look at Nino! LOL.)

I have to say, I admire the girl's courage. I'd never dare to do that! :P Also.... I wonder if Kouki-kun watched Utaban after all. (I really wanna know how this cute little story ends!)

After that was a question from the girl in the middle of the back row (I couldn't catch her name ^^; ): Do you get nervous in a kiss scene?
Sho said yes, he did. I think Nino said no. And we never get to find out what the other three think because we're treated to yet another Ohno vs Nakai scene courtesy of whatever hilarious thing Ohno said to Nakai. ahahaha

Nakai was kinda half-strangling poor Aibachan because he grabbed at his scarf and continued to tug at it while yelling at Riida. Aiba was like, "Nakai-san! Nakai-san!" Just short of adding, "You're strangling me!"

Nino said to the girls, "Just a minute, minna. Wait yea! Sorry!"
Jun: Nakai-san, the kids...
Aiba (still half-choked): They're watching! They're watching!

Once things were back to normal, Nakai asked the girls who thinks it's Ohno's fault. None of them put up their hands. ahahahah! Then Ishibashi asked who thinks it's Nakai's fault - all the hands went up. XD He objected to it, which eventually led to Ohno triggering him again.
This time, Nakai ran round the front instead of the back and shoved the tables apart. But as he went through the gap between the tables... He hit a very important part of his anatomy on the table corner and collapsed onto the floor, yelling, "IT HURTS! IT HURTS!"

He managed to clamber up and scrambled towards the camera before sinking down to his knees again (still yelling that it hurts). XDD

Nino and Aiba were cheeky enough to ask "innocent" questions of him. "Nakai-san, Nakai-san! What happened?"
He grimaced and pointed to the table, saying, "The corner...!"
Nino: The corner?
Aiba: Where did it hit? (Aiba, I'm pretty sure you know where! XDD)

Nakai gave his anguished reply to Aiba's question, and Nino had to clamp a hand over his mouth to 'censor' it. ROFL

The last segment was called Hana Yori Arashi. They had one of the guys to act a simple love scene with one of the girls.
Basic scenario seems to be that the girl has seen her boyfriend kissing another girl. He's evading questions and she stalks off in a fury. Then a rock comes (I presume) tumbling down (a hill?) towards her and he pushes her out of the way and the rock hits him instead.

First up was MatsuJun and Miyama as the couple. Ishibashi is the director and the rock is Nakai. XDD (Nakai declared that the prop rock looked more like a potato. ahahah)
Here's the rough dialogue with screencaps to go with them:

Girl: Who was that person?
Guy: I said it's just a friend.
Girl: So you kiss all your friends?
Guy: (gives some excuse)
Girl: You liar! I hate you!

Guy: Hey, wait!
Girl: Let go of me! *walks off*

Presumably, at this point the rock is supposed to appear and the whole heroic thing happens. But the sight of Nakai bobbing up and down behind the cardboard rock was just too much for anyone to handle.

Miyama and MatsuJun just kinda stared at him for a few moments, on the verge of laughing, wondering what to do, and attempted to go on with the skit. But then Director Ishibashi intervened.

"Rock!"
Then he rapped Nakai on the head with the clapperboard.
"What are you doing?"
LOLL.

They tried a second time, and Nakai did this:

And because he didn't seem to want to stop crushing MatsuJun between the two sides of the board, Ishibashi and Miyama stepped in.

So Take 2 was a failure as well. ahahaha

They did it a third time, starting from the "Hey, wait!" part. And this time, the "rock" just ran across, banged into MatsuJun, and continued running off-stage. MatsuJun duly falls to the ground, "dying." Miyama runs to him.
"Jun!"

*Flavor of Life plays*

He props himself up for a last dying line. Something about "I love you the most in the world." And then he collapses. She cries, "Jun! Jun! Get up! Jun!!"

Nakai decided to end the scene by solemly walking across the screen, snapping the rock prop as he goes. XD

The next one to try the scene was Ohno.

I had a distinct feeling that the girl is almost as tall as he is... and I was right -__-"

Just look at the glee on Nakai's face!

Then Ohno said something like, "Don't play around, Nakai!"

You know what happens next...

Riida hid behind a partition. XD

Nakai decided to shake hands and make up.

Ohno smacked him. On the face.

Here we go again...

Nakai: DID YOU SEE THAT?

In closing for the show, the girls got to give chocolates to whichever guy they liked. Nino's two "sisters" made a bee-line for him (naturally), and everyone else got one each - except for MatsuJun. Kojima gave her chocolates to Ishibashi. (Nakai didn't get any either.)

When Nakai pointed out that Jun didn't get anything, Jun said it's a shock (to him). ahahahah! He was grinning, but I think he must have felt just a little bit disappointed. ^^ ~~don't worry, Jun, you still have me. lol~~

And that concludes my Utaban summary/sort-of-translation! Hopefully it helps someone enjoy watching the talk segment a little more, whilst we all wait for good and complete subs to come out. ^_^

Thanks for the translation. Now let me go and watch it again. At least now I'll understand why I'm laughing about XD. It was funny enough when I didn't understand what they were saying but now it'll be better.
