SUKAJ and Utaban

elennielOne highly stressful week over. How stressful? I slept a total of 5.5 hours only - from Tuesday to Friday. That's how stressful. I really don't want to live this life forever.
But whatever.
Kanjani8 post again! :D Yes, I know I seem to be all about Eito these days... But allow me some fun, won't you? I haven't forgotten Arashi by any means, but I'm so stressed out and Kanjani8 is so... Naturally funny. They're the group I can totally imagine as a bunch of plush toys... (Arashi is too cool to be reduced to plushies.) *huggles imaginary plushies of Ryo, Yoko, Tacchon and Yasu*
I'd normally prefer to post on Sunday night so that I'd have at least a couple of comments to cheer me up at work on Monday, but I just felt like posting now. Two things on today's agenda:
SUKAJ, 13 Feb. 2007
Due to the sheer amount of screencaps for this, I decided not to use my LJ Scrapbook and try out Photobucket's batch uploader instead (and dragged the photo thumbnails from the photostream in the Flock browser directly into my LJ post - so much more convenient than LJ's method of inserting their Scrapbook pictures *rolls eyes* ). Anyway, same thing - just click on the thumbnails to see the larger version.
So this is all about Yokoyama, Ryo and Ohkura interviewing Leah Dizon on SUKAJ (with the help of a TV announcer lady called Maeda who's fluent in English; because Leah wasn't completely fluent and Japanese yet). Just a short thing - under 10 minutes - but full of hilarity. XD
** EDIT, 1.53PM: This vid was subbed (thankfully). I didn't translate this one. Just thought I should clear that up in case. ^^
At the beginning, Yoko mentioned to Leah that Ryo was a huge fan and every time they went to a bookstore, he'd be showing them her magazines and whatnot. Ryo could hardly stop beaming the entire time. hahah
They commented that her website got about 2 million hits in a year. And Ryo happily chirped, "Among those, I'm one of them." ROFL.
To which Yoko said, "You know, could you stop talking more than you usually do?"
Ryo: Why?
(Staff-san were really noisy in this clip somehow. They really laughed a lot. XD )
Yoko asked Leah which Japanese artistes she knew. She replied, "Kanjani-san" and then said that she bought Kanfuu Fighting, which surprised them all.
Yoko: Why?? (ahahahahaah)
Leah said it's because she likes the song. And did the little hand actions for the chorus part...
... which, I think, absolutely amused the three. Yoko laughed and asked, "Why do you know that??", Ohkura clapped and said, "Suge~" while Ryo (as you can see below) melted. XDD
When she told them that it's a bit lonely for her in Japan (she just moved there) since her family is back in the US and she hasn't made many friends yet, Yoko piped up, "We'll be your friends right away!" ahaha (I'm sure Ryo would be delighted to be her friend. :P )
They then introduced some stress-relieving items to her. The first was a microphone with a sort of soundproofing cover around it so you can yell into the mic but the sound will be very muffled - therefore you won't disturb your neighbours. ahaha
Ohkura tested it out with half a line from Kanfuu Fighting and next they let Leah try it. She continued the line that Ohkura started and the result was pronounced "kawaii~" Yoko asked if she would sing a line from her (then upcoming) debut song for them. She didn't really want too and said she felt embarrassed. Ryo immediately jumped in and said, "She's embarrassed. Stop asking her to do that!"
"Gomen. Please stop this."
Hero Ryo. XD
The second item was a "Scalp massager electrical tingler" or something like that. You hold it on your head and the tips vibrate, stimulating the scalp and releasing stress. She tried it and said that it feels good, yet a little weird.
Ryo, who was introducing the item, said, "Japanese people always create odd things like this."
Leah: Really?
Ryo: Yeah. Stupid, isn't it?
(hahahaha)
Yoko: Why are you acting like you're from some other country?
(ROFL.)
They had several massage items to let her try. The first one she took up was a sort of face massager. Yoko commented, "Cute. Whatever she does is cute." (Yoko, are you developing a crush on Leah-san as well? XDD )
And while she was trying it, she looked to her left (to Maeda and Yoko).
Ryo noted that and objected.
"Why are you only looking over there?"
He said they (him and Ohkura) were being ignored, so she promptly started looking their way.
And here's where Ryo just about loses it. Look at his face. (I'd really recommend seeing the full views of these caps.) He just totally flipped and was reduced to a lump of giggling fanboy.
There was a squeal (starting from the second cap) which at first I thought was Leah, but that made no sense. After re-watching that part, I'm convinced that it was Ryo who let out that high-pitched cross between a squeal and a giggle (the sound was probably amplified by the microphone) because it was timed so perfectly to his reactions. I don't know how else to describe it, but it was hilarious coming from a guy. XDDD
Ohkura was not amused.
"What is this? This is kind of uncomfortable..."
"... The truth is, I came here for WORK."

After she tried all the massge items, Yoko said that she could keep one of them - but in order to do that, she'd first have to do an impression of Shimura Ken's famous "Aiiin!" phrase (I'm assuming this is the same Shimura Ken of Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen?) and that Ryo would demonstrate it for her.
Ryo: What kind of gag is "Aiin" again?
Yoko: What? Don't you know?
Yoko: It's this "Aiin."
Ryo: (to Leah) Ah, that's it.
Yoko: Wait a minute! ..You're sneaky. That's the sneakiest trick ever.
Ahahahaha! Ryo, oh Ryo. XD You got the best of Yoko this time. *resumes laughing*
In any case, her "Aiin" was kawaii but... "That's not 'Aiin,'" as Ohkura said. To Leah's credit, she did try, although she seems really shy. (Actually, I thought she looked a little uncomfortable after that, knowing that she didn't do it correctly. :/ I felt sorry for her then - I'd hate to be put on the spot like that too.)
Yoko: It's the first time I've seen an "Aiin" that cute. (turns to Maeda-san) What's "kawaii" in English?
Maede: Cute.
Yoko: (to Leah) Cute!
Leah: (laughs) English...!
Yoko: Why? Is my English weird?

Ohkura even gave him a comforting part on the shoulder. XD Kinda like "There, there..."
But Leah was quick to say, "No, no, it's not like that."

Leah: Cute like a child.
Yoko: Like a child?
Ryo: (making a fast turnaround from his dejection and envy) She only thought you're cute like a child.
Look at the smug expression on Ryo's face! X)
And Ohkura added, "Well, even his hair hasn't grown yet!"
Yoko: You! It's for my drama.
Poor Yoko, getting teased about his hair. And poor Tacchon, having to endure Fanboy Ryo next to him :P I'm pretty sure Ryo had the time of his life though. Ahahah
It just fascinates me how much of a fanboy he was - MatsuJun meeting Janet Jackson wasn't anywhere near this level of hilarity. XD
UTABAN 2008.03.27

K8's talk segment was only about 10 minutes long this time. :(
But at least they managed to squeeze in a couple of hilarious moments. :P Yasu-Nakai moments are quickly becoming the staples of K8 on Utaban, like Ohno-Nakai when it's Arashi's turn. hahaha
(Hina wasn't around this time - I think he had some other work to do?)
They talked a bit about Kanjani8 becoming Kanjani6 or something for a short while, and then at one point, Nakai turned to Yasu and looked him up and down in a sort of "Hmm..." manner.
Yasu: What??
Nakai: Eh?
Yasu: What is it now??
Nakai: What is it? I'm only looking at you, but... you seem to be getting closer and closer
Yasu: That's..! The table -
Nakai: WHY ARE YOU LOOKING HERE?
(look at where Nakai's hand are XD )
Yasu: I was looking at the table surface! The table surface!
XDDD
The next topic was something about Maru having gained weight over the winter and now, having started a diet or something, has lost 3kg so far. (And might I say, Maru's current short hair is also an improvement on his previous look. *approval* ) Nakai said that he's on a diet too - mostly eats tofu and natto? hahah... Sounds like he lost quite a bit of weight though, judging by K8's expressions and the loud "EHhhh?"
Yasu asked, "Was it fun?"
To which Nakai responded by very suddenly grabbing him by the collar of his jacket and snarling, "SHUT UP."
Yasu: (in somewhat terrified tones) I didn't mean anything by it! I didn't mean anything!!
The others started telling him to apologise, and he did. "Sumimasen! Sumimasen!"
Nakai only let him go after that. :P
Some stuff was said about Nakai being irritated or something (I was too lazy to look up the kanji to check). Then Nakai - while tilting his head from side to side, as though straightening out a crick in his neck - said something like, "This isn't too far from the Ohno Pattern."
(This is one of those parts where I only managed to catch a few words and really am not sure of, but I'm sure it's about Ohno. hahah )
Everyone burst out laughing and a little box with a clip of Nakai's last run-in with Ohno on Utaban appeared in the corner of the screen. xDD
(Hey, look... Blond hair on both! LOL. This is funny... They're both short, have dyed hair, and are frequently connected to Nakai on Utaban - albeit in opposite ways. XDD )
The second half of their talk segment was spent doing some exercises with a (very obviously) gay exercise instructor. I leave you now with caps of that. :P
Wah. I started typing this at about 5pm... And now it's nearly 10. But of course, I got sidetracked by this week's round of Bleach, One Piece and Eyeshield21. And then there was dinner. ^^
Ah well. Hope y'all had fun reading this. :D (and I hope I got the translations of Utaban right...)

Date: 2008-06-14 03:28 am (UTC)Recently I discovered a rant on quite a respected figure in the tattoo community's Myspace. I say rant, it was more like pure venomous hatred.
It would seem that some find young people with visible ink, impatient and disrespectful, and they must all just think it's cool to have visible work.
I'm 23, My first tattoo was on my shoulder, then my wrists, then I got a full sleeve. Then I moved to my hands, then neck and I also have a large part of my leg tattooed.
It took me about two years to get the opportunity to get my hand tattooed by my idol, and then my neck by an artist I greatly admire, a lot of time, effort and thought was put into both of these.
Even though I'm somewhat older and do have a fair bit of coverage, I might still be classed as young and "under-tattooed" to have such visible work, and I can't help but think that's kinda crazy!
Sure I've seen some 18 year olds with kanji on their necks or poorly executed skulls on their hands, and you can almost tell they rushed into it, wanting everyone to see their new work as clearly as possible, and fine that to me is impatient and maybe even attention seeking.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that not everyone who has visible work is disrespectful to the art, some people invest a great deal of time, money and effort into getting that particular location inked with the highest standard work possible.
It's kinda funny to find prejudice within a community that tries so hard to divert it away from itself.
Thoughts?
